Activities at The Southerlands

Happening This Week

The Southerlands plays host to a myriad of programs for its residents - all relating to their care and comfort.  The term activities can be used as one descriptive of this department - providing a diverse choice of games, crafts, single and communal projects from cooking and sewing to letter writing. Included also in this department are trips - day trips, shopping trips, sight-seeing trips, just for fun because the weather is perfect trips!

Resident Programs & Services also provides choices for residents to become involved in religious programs.  Volunteers from various denominations come weekly to provide a time of meditation for those desiring it.  There is an on-staff clergy who provides monthly praise and communion service as well as weekly Bible lessons and personal letter writing for residents.

We celebrate life here and the joy that it brings no matter how young or old you are!  We enjoy the gifts and graces of our diverse community - those things that each person has that can enrich the lives of others - we strive to give each resident the opportunity to shine, to enjoy a new experience, and relish in those things that bring fun and fond memories.  The Southerlands Programs and Services department smiles a lot, gives hugs when needed (and sometimes even when not needed!), loves to sit and talk one on one with everybody - you'd be surprised how much you can learn about something by talking with someone who for most of their life, lived in another era than yours.

Exercise is a wonderful activity for everyone. We have numerous exercise programs designed for our senior community; you can participate from the comfort of a chair or on your feet, for those seeking a bit more activity; we have designed a program for seniors called Morning Movers for those needing certain exercises for arm and leg strength; Yoga is also offered three times a week.

Our plan calls for continuing to provide residents of The Southerlands a full and rich environment for their body and mind.
